If semen is discharged without pleasure, or with unusual pleasure, (ritual bath) is not obligatory according to the majority of scholars. Only wudu (ablution) is required, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If water gushes forth, then perform ghusl." "Gushing forth" (فضخ) refers to its forceful discharge accompanied by pleasure. This is the view of Abu Hanifa and Malik. Al-Shafi'i disagreed, stating that ghusl is obligatory. For women, semen is a thin, yellowish fluid.
