Does a man reaching climax in his sleep without intercourse necessitate ghusl, and does a discharge of desire while awake necessitate ghusl before prayer?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If a man approaches his sleeping wife without intercourse and he does not emit maniyy (sperm), then (ritual bath) is not obligatory. However, if he does emit maniyy, then ghusl becomes obligatory. The discharge that exits due to lust, if it is maniyy, necessitates ghusl. But if it is madhiy (pre-seminal fluid), it is impure (najis), nullifies ablution (wudu'), but does not necessitate ghusl.
