Is it a condition for the woman in nifas to wait forty days to return to her normal life, or is it permissible for her to do so before the forty days if the bleeding stops? And is the woman in nifas considered to be in the same ruling as a menstruating woman? And can she supplicate (make dua) if prayer is not permissible for her?

Most scholars are of the opinion that the maximum duration of post-natal bleeding (nifas (definition)) is forty days. If the bleeding stops before that, the woman must perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath), pray, and be like any other pure woman. The scholars have reached a consensus that a woman in nifas refrains from prayer for forty days, unless she sees purity before that, in which case she performs ghusl and prays. A woman in nifas is subject to the same rulings as a menstruating woman. It is permissible for her to supplicate to Allah, glorify Him, and declare His oneness. She is prohibited from touching the Qur'an, performing prayer, circumambulating the Kaaba (tawaf (definition)), and engaging in sexual intercourse. In all these aspects, she is like a menstruating woman.
