The answer

The yellowish and brownish discharges are considered menstruation if a woman sees them during her usual period, or if they connect with blood after it has stopped. However, if she sees them before blood, outside her usual period, they are not considered menstruation.

If a woman sees them during her usual period, she should refrain from fasting and prayer. If they stop in less than a day and a night, they are not considered menstruation. But if they continue for a day and a night, or if blood or yellowish and brownish discharges return during her usual period, such that the total duration of what she sees reaches a day and a night, then it is menstruation. Upon their cessation and seeing purity, either by dryness or by the white discharge, she must perform (ritual bath).
