Must I pray when a brown, white, or yellow discharge appears, accompanied by menstrual pain, before the clear menstrual blood comes down?

Yellowish and brownish discharges are considered menstruation for a woman with a regular period if they occur during her customary time or are connected to blood. Otherwise, they are not considered menstruation. Accordingly, if a woman sees them outside her customary time, they are not considered menstruation. Rather, she should purify herself from them and perform ablution for every prayer after its time has begun. With that ablution, she can pray the obligatory and supererogatory prayers until the time expires, just as a woman experiencing irregular bleeding (istihadah (definition)) does.
