What is incumbent upon one who has uttered a word of disbelief, or accused himself of hypocrisy, or survived a suicide attempt, in order to re-enter Islam? Is it a condition to declare the pronouncement of the Two Testimonies and to perform an immediate ghusl? And is it permissible to combine the intention of ghusl from menstruation with the intention of returning to Islam?

An apostate is not required to pronounce the Two Testimonies publicly. If he pronounces them in private, his repentance is valid. He is also not required to perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) immediately after. If he delays the ghusl, that is sufficient for him. As for combining intentions in ghusl, there is no harm in it. If he restricts his intention to embracing Islam, that is sufficient for him, and the ghusl for Islam suffices for all things that necessitate ghusl, such as ritual impurity (janabah (definition)) and the like.
