Scholars have differed regarding the obligation of immediate succession (muwalat) between the acts of ablution (wudu’). Doubt about its non-occurrence does not cause harm. Immediate succession is not a condition for (ritual bath) according to the majority of scholars. As for (dry ablution), it is obligatory according to the Malikis and Hanbalis. If the interval between wiping the limbs of tayammum becomes prolonged, exceeding the time it takes for a limb to dry in wudu’ in a moderate climate, then tayammum must be recommenced from the beginning.
