What is the ruling on one who masturbated or had intercourse and then slept without performing ghusl out of laziness, thereby missing the Fajr prayer? Is this considered a major sin that requires repentance, and does the ruling differ between masturbation and intercourse?
Intercourse and masturbation necessitate (ritual bath) if semen is discharged. Intercourse alone necessitates ghusl even if ejaculation does not occur. A person in a state of (major ritual impurity) is considered impure, and their prayer is not valid before performing ghusl. Masturbation is forbidden, while intercourse is permissible for lawful purposes and forbidden for others. One who sleeps in a state of janabah must perform ghusl and pray Fajr prayer on time. Delaying prayer is a grave sin, and performing it as a make-up is obligatory, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. Sleeping in a state of janabah without purification is permissible, but it is preferable to perform ablution before sleeping.
