The answer

Trimming nails is one of the innate practices (fitra) enjoined upon a Muslim, as per the narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Five things are from the fitra: circumcision, shaving pubic hair, trimming nails, plucking armpit hair, and shortening the moustache." There is no firm evidence specifying a particular time for trimming nails. However, some scholars have deemed Thursdays and Fridays commendable for it, due to certain narrations indicating this, such as the commendation of trimming them on Thursday because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did so and commanded Ali to do it. There is no evidence that one who trims their nails at night commits a sin.
