What is the ruling regarding the 'Umrah that I performed on behalf of a recently deceased person, during which I passed through the Hijr Isma'il out of ignorance, and must I repeat it? Is it permissible for me to perform 'Umrah on behalf of someone else before performing it for myself?

The umrah (definition) you performed on behalf of your deceased relative is not valid if you have not first performed the obligatory umrah for yourself; rather, this umrah is now counted for you. You must now refrain from the prohibitions of ihram (definition), return to Mecca to perform tawaf (definition), sa'y, and shorten or shave your hair. There is no penalty for the prohibitions you committed due to ignorance, but for acts of destruction such as shaving or clipping nails, a fidyah (definition) (expiation) is required. Intercourse that occurred due to ignorance does not invalidate the umrah.
