Does losing consciousness nullify ablution?

Scholars are unanimous that fainting nullifies ablution (Wudu'), even if it is slight or momentary, because it removes consciousness, and the sensation of theainted person is further removed than that of a sleeping person. Ibn al-Mundhir, al-Nawawi, and others have نقل الإجماع on this matter. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen and Sheikh Ibn Baz have both affirmed that fainting nullifies ablution, as it is more profound than deep sleep. Therefore, if a person faints, he must perform ablution, unless it is a slight loss of consciousness that does not prevent the sensation of impurities.
