It is permissible to pray on a rug made from the skin of a slaughtered or tanned sheep, whether it was slaughtered according to Islamic rites (dhaki) or not, because it is authentically established that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray on mats and on tanned animal skins.
