The answer

The impurity of a dog on the ground can be removed by submerging it in water without the need for earth. However, if it is on clothes or the body, it must be washed seven times, one of them with earth, according to the Shafi'i and Hanbali schools. Soap can take the place of earth according to the Hanbalis. A place whose impurity is doubtful does not need to be washed.
