Can one perform tayammum with tree leaves?

Scholars differed regarding what can be used for tayammum (definition) (dry ablution). The correct view is that it is permissible only with pure earth that has dust clinging to the hand, based on the Almighty's saying: "then perform tayammum with pure earth and wipe over your faces and your hands with it." This is the view of Ash-Shafi'i, Ahmad, Ishaq, Abu Yusuf, and Dawud. Malik and Abu Hanifa said: Tayammum is permissible with anything that is of the earth's kind, such as lime, arsenic, and stones. Al-Awza'i said: Sand is considered earth (sa'id). Therefore, it is not permissible to perform tayammum with tree leaves unless there is dust on them that clings to the hand.
