What is the ruling on performing tayammum when water is available?

Performing tayammum (definition) (dry ablution) when water is available is a grave Munkar (reprehensible act). Wudu (ablution) with water is a condition for the validity of prayer when water is available, based on the Almighty's saying: (O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles), and on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The prayer of one of you who has invalidated his ablution is not accepted until he performs ablution." Allah has permitted tayammum when water is unavailable or when one is unable to use it due to illness or similar reasons. Therefore, performing tayammum when water is present and one is able to use it is impermissible, and the prayer in such a case is invalid.
