Should one go to the bathroom upon waking up before performing ablution and prayer?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is not necessary to go to the bathroom upon waking up unless one needs to relieve oneself, remove an impurity, or perform '. If a Muslim does not need to do so, they may perform ablution directly for prayer as Allah Almighty commanded: "O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles" (Al-Ma'idah: 6).
