Does using one's fingers to deliver water to the nose during sniffing (instinshaq) in wudu invalidate wudu?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Inhaling water (istinnshaq) is obligatory according to some scholars and a according to others. Exaggerating it is recommended for those who are not fasting. Istinnshaq is done by drawing water with the breath to the deepest part of the nose without needing to insert a finger. Exaggerating it applies to those who are not fasting. One must abandon the whispers of Satan, seek refuge in Allah, and rely on Him. What the questioner used to do by inserting a finger is correct, but he must abandon anything that contradicts the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
