Is ablution (wudu') required to touch the Qur'an, or is it permissible for someone who is not in a state of ablution but is ritually pure (tahir hukman) to touch it for educational or other purposes?

It is not permissible for an individual who is not in a state of ritual purity (wudu) to touch the Mus'haf, based on the : "None shall touch the Qur'an except one who is pure." This ruling includes parts of the Mus'haf. However, some scholars have permitted one who is in a state of minor ritual impurity (al-muhdith) to touch the Mus'haf for the purpose of learning or teaching, to alleviate hardship.
