The exegetes differed regarding the identification of the Companions of the Right (Aṣḥāb al-Yamīn), presenting eight opinions. These include:
Those who were to the right of Adam when his progeny was brought forth. Those who receive their books in their right hands. Those who are blessed in themselves.
