If someone vows to slaughter a specific sheep should their child memorize the Quran, and that sheep then gives birth, it is obligatory to slaughter both the sheep and its offspring according to the majority of scholars. The Malikis consider it commendable, while the Zahiris do not deem it obligatory. However, if the sheep is not specific, then any sheep may be slaughtered, and its offspring is not required to be slaughtered.
