The answer

For a reciter who shortens the separate madd (elongation) from Hafs, there are two possibilities for the sakt (a short, breathless pause): one is with sakt, and the other is without it. It has been reported in some narrations from Hafs that sakt is applied in the four specific instances, while in others it is omitted, and in still others, it is applied to some but not all of them. For a detailed explanation, one can refer to the book "Sareeh al-Nass fi al-Kalimat al-Mukhtalaf fiha 'an Hafs" by Sheikh al-Dabbā' and the book "Al-Nashr wa Shuruh al-Tayyibah." It is recommended to learn from proficient and authorized shaykhs (teachers) who transmit through the Tayyibah path to avoid confusion between the different recitations.
