The question

Is it valid to show the kasra (vowel for the genitive case) on words ending with a kasra due to the حذف ياء المتكلم (omission of the first person singular possessive pronoun "my"), such as "دين" (deen) in "لكم دينكم ولي دين" (To you be your religion, and to me my religion) or "أكرمن/أهانن" (akraman/ahaanana) in Surat Al-Fajr, or is sukoon (vowel-less state) mandatory when pausing, and if valid, according to which recitation?

The answer

The letter 'ya' (ي) has been omitted from the end of numerous words in the Mus'haf, with the kasra (ِ) serving as sufficient indication. Reciters have various approaches regarding the affirmation or omission of these 'ya's during recitation, including affirming them both in connection (wasl) and pause (waqf), or omitting them likewise, or affirming them in connection and omitting them in pause. All of this is detailed in the books of Qira'at (recitations).

As for "akraman" (أكرمن) and "ahanan" (أهانن), the two Madani reciters (Nafi' and Abu Ja'far) affirmed the 'ya' in them when connecting and omitted it when pausing. The same applies to Abu Amr, though there is a difference of opinion reported from him. Ya'qub affirmed it both in connection and pause, while the remaining reciters omitted it both in connection and pause.

As for "dini" (دينِ), only Ya'qub affirmed the 'ya' in it both in connection and pause, while the remaining reciters omitted it both in connection and pause.
