Is it wrong to memorize the Qur’an first and then learn the rules of Tajweed?
Memorizing the Quran is a great blessing and a successful decision. Learning the rules of Tajwid is important for correcting pronunciation and improving performance. Do not stop memorizing; rather, combine it with learning Tajwid. Focus on reciting what you wish to memorize with correct recitation by receiving it from a female reciter [Mujawwidah] or by utilizing available resources. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to direct his companions to learn the Quran from those who were proficient. The process of memorization typically begins with memorizing the Quran while focusing on correct pronunciation, and then delves into the finer details of Tajwid rules thereafter.
