What is the ruling on using an autotune effect or filter lightly to beautify the voice when reciting the Quran, and what is the ruling on effects in general for the Quran?

There is no harm in using sound enhancements and effects when reciting the Quran, as long as it does not lead to the repetition or loss of letters, or alteration of rulings, and as long as the reciter does not adhere to musical modes (maqamat) and melodies. This is based on the statement of Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen.

However, it is not permissible to use autotune in Quranic recitation, even if the reciter does not observe musical modes, because it leads to the loss of some voweling, letters, or rulings. Sheikh Suleiman Al-Majid has issued a fatwa (definition) stating the impermissibility of introducing these effects into Quranic recitation.
