How is the prayer performed?
A Muslim is obligated to pray as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed. The prayer begins with ablution, facing the Qiblah, raising the hands for the takbir, then placing the right hand over the left below the chest, and reciting the opening supplication silently. This is followed by reciting Al-Fatiha and another in the first two rak'ahs, and Al-Fatiha only in the last two.
After that, the worshipper bows, raising his hands, and says: "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest). Then, in his bowing, he says: "Subhana Rabbiyal-Azeem" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Magnificent). He then rises from bowing, saying: "Sami'allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd" (Allah hears those who praise Him; O our Lord, to You be all praise).
Then he prostrates, saying: "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest), and in his prostration, he says: "Subhana Rabbiyal-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High), and supplicates for whatever he wishes. Then he rises from prostration, saying: "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest), and in his sitting, he says: "Rabbighfir li" (O my Lord, forgive me).
He performs this in every rak'ah. In the second rak'ah of a four-unit or three-unit prayer, he adds the middle . In the final tashahhud, he adds the Salat al-Ibrahimiyyah, while maintaining calmness and serenity in all actions of the prayer.
