Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to touch the Quran? And is touching the Quran with a barrier, as an alternative to ritual purity, effective, knowing that the impurity of a menstruating woman is spiritual and not material? And what should a menstruating woman do when compelled to handle the Quran to organize it or return it to its place?

It is not permissible for a menstruating woman to touch or carry the Mushaf (definition) (copy of the Quran), even with a barrier, unless it is part of her belongings. This is the view of the majority of scholars. However, the Hanbalis held the view that it is permissible for her to carry it by a strap or to touch it with a barrier or separator if she needs to, and this is closer to what is correct. A menstruating woman can excuse herself from placing the Mushaf by saying that she is not in a state of ritual purity or that she is not permitted to touch the Mushaf.
