What is the ruling on my work as a fundraiser for a licensed charity if I hand over the donations to an official and do not know their exact fate, and do I bear sin if they do not reach the deserving families?

If you are an agent representing donors in delivering their funds, you are not permitted to appoint a charitable organization to distribute them except with the donors' permission, because an agent cannot appoint another without the principal's permission. However, if you are an agent for the organization in receiving funds, you are not permitted to hand them over to the organization if you doubt the trustworthiness of those in charge of it. Rather, it is obligatory to be certain or to have a strong presumption that they deliver the funds to their rightful recipients. It is a condition for an agent distributing zakat (definition) that they be trustworthy.
