How should a divorced woman deal with her father who does not support her or her mother, and whom she accuses of oppressing her and her mother and preferring his other wife and their children? Is she wrong in blaming him, and are the father's actions normal?
Advising the father about his shortcomings regarding his children and their mother is a good thing, but it should be done in a gentle and kind manner, while also upholding the obligation to honor and be dutiful to parents, even if they err. A father's neglect of the rights of his children and wife is a grave sin, as commands justice among children and wives. The husband must provide his wife with her right to conjugal relations and maintenance according to what is customary. As for the maintenance of a daughter after her divorce, the preponderant opinion is that it is obligatory upon the father as long as she is poor and in need.
