The entire face of the deceased is covered with the shroud, except for the pilgrim in , whose face and head are uncovered, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said concerning the pilgrim in ihram who died at Arafat: "Do not cover his head, for he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment reciting the ." In a narration by Muslim: "Do not cover his head or his face, for he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment reciting the talbiyah." However, if the deceased is a woman, her face must be covered with her shroud, even if she was in ihram, because she is 'awrah (private parts that must be covered).
