If a woman wakes up from a long sleep and finds her menses, and she does not know exactly when it began, then she should calculate the beginning of her menses from the last prayer time she experienced, like the Maghrib prayer in the example mentioned. This is based on the jurisprudential rule, "The origin of every new occurrence is to estimate it at the nearest time," because this time is certain for the occurrence of menses, and before it, the origin is the continuation of purity.
