Is an Udhiyah that jumped from a roof and was slaughtered before it died considered valid?

If a Muslim buys a sacrificial animal with the intention of offering it as a sacrifice, and then it develops a defect that would render it impermissible, unless that defect was caused by him or through his agency, then it is still permissible for him to slaughter it. This is because he has no recourse in the matter. This is the view of Ata, Al-Hasan (definition), An-Nakha'i, Az-Zuhri, Ath-Thawri, Malik, Ash-Shafi'i, and Ishaq. The designation of an animal as a sacrifice occurs either by declaration (e.g., "This is for sacrifice") or by purchasing it with the intention of offering it as a sacrifice.
