Is it permissible to offer as a sacrifice a buffalo that has not completed two years of age, knowing that it is fat and has a lot of meat, and there is no ability to sell it?

The noble Hadith (definition) specifies the conditions for the sacrificial animal (Udhiyah (definition)), stating that it is not permissible except with a "musinnah," which is an animal that has reached two years of age and entered its third. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not slaughter except a musinnah, but if that is difficult for you, then slaughter a jadha'ah (six-month-old lamb) from the sheep." The Prophet (peace be upon him) confirmed this in the Hadith of Abu Burdah ibn Niyar when he exceptionally and specifically permitted him to sacrifice a young sheep, without considering the quantity of its meat. Therefore, if the slaughtered animal has not reached the legal age, it is not considered an Udhiyah; rather, it is merely meat for slaughter, and the one who gives it as charity will receive the reward of charity.
