It is permissible to designate a sheep for sacrifice () a period before Eid, provided that it meets the conditions of Udhiyah in terms of age and freedom from defects. The Udhiyah is designated by declaration, not merely by intention. Once the Udhiyah is designated, it is not permissible to sell it or gift it.
