How does a real man behave in his home, with his wife, and in his general dealings, and is stubbornness a good or bad trait in a husband?
The true man is he who upholds the command of Allah, abides by His limits, is keen on gaining His pleasure, and possesses good character towards people, especially his household. He is responsible for his flock, and it is his duty to teach his family matters of their religion and forbid them from unlawful acts. A husband's guardianship means tending to the family's interests with mercy and kindness, not domination and tyranny. Stubbornness is blameworthy, and if it leads to baseless contention, it is an abomination and may be considered among the major sins. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was an example in his gentle character and kindness, especially with his family, and he would respond to their requests as long as they did not involve any religious deficiency.
