Is a mentally challenged fifteen-year-old girl, who has reached puberty and struggles to fast and pray irregularly, considered accountable for her actions, and what should her family do regarding her?

Parents must raise their children and teach them matters of their religion, based on the Almighty’s saying: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire," and the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and beat them for it when they are ten." A girl who is delayed in development is accountable and responsible as long as she is an adult and of sound mind. She must be taught the rulings of Sharia (definition) and commanded to perform acts of worship with gentleness and patience.
