Is it permissible for the daughter's husband to boycott his mother-in-law, raise his voice at her, or insult her?

A husband should maintain good character with his wife's relatives, especially her mother, as this fosters harmony, love, and stability in marital life. A husband's honoring of his mother-in-law is an honor to his wife and the grandmother of his children. Insulting her is an insult to them and contradicts the good companionship enjoined by Allah, as He says: (And live with them in kindness), and as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best among you is he who is best to his family, and I am the best among you to my family." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to honor Khadijah's friends after her death. As for insults, raising one's voice, cutting off communication, and shunning, these contradict good character and are forbidden by the Sharia (definition), as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not permissible for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three nights." Therefore, the husband should fear Allah and be good to his wife and her relatives so that his life may be blessed.
