Is it permissible for the father, mother, or husband to impose the hijab on a girl, or is the matter achieved through advice followed by conviction?

The hijab (definition) is an obligation upon the Muslim woman, as evidenced by texts from the Qur'an and Sunnah (definition), and the consensus of scholars. The guardian (wali) or husband must compel the woman to wear the hijab if she does not comply with advice, based on Allah's saying: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire" and Allah's saying: "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has preferred some of them over others and by [right of] what they spend from their wealth." And based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And a man is a guardian over his family and is responsible for his subjects."
