Is it permissible for the wife to go out for recreation with her sisters or friends before divorce, or after divorce and before the 'iddah period ends?

The basic principle is that a wife is not permitted to leave her husband's home without his permission. If she does so, she is disobedient and rebellious (nashiz). Exceptions to this include necessities that she cannot do without, such as obtaining food, going to a judge to claim a right or maintenance if the husband is unable to provide, and seeking a fatwa (definition) if the husband is not a jurist.

The husband must strive to resolve the problem with his wife. The wife's family should not cause discord between the spouses, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who incites a woman against her husband." Striving to separate them without a legitimate religious reason is among the deeds most beloved to Iblis.

The wife's father must fear Allah and not seek to divorce his daughter unless she is oppressed and has a legitimate religious right to seek divorce.

As for her going out for recreation: if she is disobedient (nashiz), she is not permitted to go out, because her stay at her family's home is an act of disobedience. If she left for a legitimate reason, she may go out for what custom ordinarily permits, unless the husband's dislike for it is known.

It is important to note that the husbands of the woman's sisters are strangers to her, so it is not permissible to be in seclusion with any of them nor to remove her hijab (definition) in front of them.
