What is the ruling on committing a sin under duress, such as lying or abandoning the hijab, if one's family commands it?

There is no sin upon one who is compelled to commit a disobedience if refraining from it would cause severe harm, such as death or torture, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has overlooked for my nation mistakes, forgetfulness, and what they are compelled to do." As for merely being commanded by one's family to commit a disobedience, it is not permissible to obey them in that, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah; indeed, obedience is only in what is right."
