Is the original principle regarding the aqiqah for a boy that only one ram be slaughtered, with the father's intention that his son will slaughter the second ram for himself when he grows up, based on the evidence that the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed aqiqah for himself?

The Sunnah (definition) is for the father to perform the Aqiqah (definition) for his children: two sheep for a male and one sheep for a female. Some scholars consider one sheep sufficient for both. Therefore, the son is not required to slaughter for himself when he grows up, as nothing of the sort has been reported from the Salaf. Rather, some scholars have recommended that whoever did not have an Aqiqah performed for them should perform it for themselves when they reach maturity. The Hadith (definition) about the Prophet (peace be upon him) performing Aqiqah for himself after prophethood is weak or fabricated.
