What is the ruling on prophetic praises (Al-Mada'ih Al-Nabawiyah) in Islamic law? May Allah reward you.

Praise of the Prophet is lawful and rewarded, if the intention is good, and the poets used to praise the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him. It is stipulated that these praises should not contain exaggeration of the Messenger, or seeking his aid, or words of adoration that are not befitting of him; otherwise, they become unlawful. As for people gathering to listen to these praises in the manner known as the Mawlid (celebration of the Prophet's birthday), it is an innovation and a misguidance, because the righteous predecessors did not do so. The love and veneration of the Messenger lie in following him, obeying him, and reviving his Sunnah (definition).
