Why do many scholars and preachers not wear the turban, which was worn by the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while they wear the clothing of their fathers and grandfathers?
It has been established that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wore a turban, and perhaps he wiped over it, but it is among the ordinary habitual actions (Sunnahs). He also wore a skullcap and other things, and following him, peace and blessings be upon him, in everything is best. Muslims are not obligated to follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his ordinary actions that were dictated by his environment, as clothing differs from one environment to another. The is for a Muslim to wear what people wear without extravagance or seeking fame, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not obligate his followers to wear a specific type of clothing.
