How sound is the story of Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him) weeping for forty years and saying in his prostration: "My Lord, will You not have mercy on my weakness, will You not have mercy on my gray hair, will You not have mercy on my old age, will You not have mercy on my humiliation, will You not have mercy on my poverty"? And God answered him: "O Jacob, by My might, and My majesty, and My elevation above My creation, if Joseph were dead, I would resurrect him for you"?

The aforementioned about Jacob and Joseph (peace be upon them), which is narrated on the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), is a fabricated and false Hadith. It has two main chains of transmission, both of which are extremely weak due to discrepancies among the narrators and their severe weakness, as some of them are accused of lying, abandonment, or denial. Furthermore, the Hadith was deemed weak by Ibn Kathir and Al-Albani.
