No has been found stating that whoever curses is cursed by angels for forty days. However, hadiths have been reported that prohibit and warn against cursing, including that cursing a believer is like killing him, and that a curse returns to its speaker if it does not find someone deserving of it. Also, cursing one's parents is among the major sins. The punishment of prayer not being accepted for forty days has been reported for other sins, such as visiting a soothsayer or drinking alcohol.
