The question

Is the Hadith, which states that a person who commits sins in solitude will have their good deeds scattered as dust, authentic? And does it contradict the Hadith Qudsi: "O son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done and I do not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and then you seek My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with nearly the whole world full of sins, and then you meet Me without associating anything with Me, I would come to you with nearly as much forgiveness," and with the noble verse: "Indeed, good deeds do away with ill deeds"?

The answer

There is no contradiction between the two hadiths, for the first refers to one who feigns righteousness and commits sins in private, while the second applies to one who has repented sincerely and died upon monotheism. Therefore, one should not despair of good deeds and their effect.
