Is what Murtaḍā al-Zubaydī narrated on the authority of al-Shaʿbī, regarding ʿĀʾishah’s (may Allah be pleased with her) statement: “I have innovated something after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I do not know what my state will be with him, so do not bury me with him... Then she called for a piece of cloth from the garment of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: ‘Place this on my chest and bury it with me, so that perhaps I may be saved by it from the torment of the grave’,” authentic and a valid proof, and what is the precise meaning of her saying “أحدثت” (I have innovated/brought about something new) with evidence?

The event that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) regretted was her participation in the Battle of the Camel. She cried a great deal when she recited the verse: "And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance" [Quran 33:33], out of remorse for that. Aisha regretted her journey completely and admitted to Ammar ibn Yasir that he spoke the truth when he reminded her of the verse. Al-Dhahabi mentioned that she repented from that and that she acted out of interpretation and with the intention of doing good.
