To whom is the preference given by a Muslim man: the wife or the mother?

The mother has priority in good companionship, based on the Prophet's (PBUH) hadith (definition): "Who among the people is most deserving of my good companionship?" He said, "Your mother." He said, "Then who?" He said, "Your mother." He said, "Then who?" He said, "Your mother." The wife is prioritized over the mother in financial support if the husband cannot provide for both of them simultaneously. A Muslim should give everyone their due rights and support the oppressed.
