The question

What is the authenticity of the hadith: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, a servant may supplicate to Allah while He is angry with him, so He turns away from him. Then he supplicates to Him again, and He turns away from him. Then He, glorified be He, says to His angels: 'My servant refused to supplicate to anyone other than Me. Indeed, I have become ashamed of him. He supplicates to Me, and I turn away from him. I bear witness to you that I have answered him'"?

The answer

This was narrated by Al-Tabarani, Abu Nu'aym, and Al-Daylami, and its chain of narration is very weak. It includes Al-Fadl ibn 'Isa Al-Raqashi, who is considered Munkar al-Hadith (denounced in Hadith) and weak, and Abu 'Asim Al-'Abbadani, who is layyin al-hadith (weak in Hadith). Nevertheless, persistence in supplication is one of the causes for its acceptance.
