What is the authenticity of the hadith: "Do not marry women for their beauty, for their beauty may ruin them; and do not marry them for their wealth, for their wealth may make them rebellious; but marry them for their piety. Indeed, a black, disfigured slave woman who is religious is better"? And did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Even if she were black"? What is the problem with a black woman if the hadith is authentic?

The aforementioned hadith (definition) is very weak and not authentic. It was deemed weak by Al-Albani and Al-Busiri. There is nothing in the mention of blackness in the hadith that would legally disparage a Black woman, for the intent, if the hadith were authentic, is to show that piety is what truly matters. This is affirmed by Islamic law, which states that an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a white person over a black person, except by piety.
