The question

What is the authenticity of the hadith, "There is no Muslim servant who says three times when he reaches the evening or the morning, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as a Prophet,' except that it is a right upon Allah to please him on the Day of Resurrection," which is widely circulated in adhkar applications and popular religious accounts? And is it sufficient to rely on it for adhkar if it is weak or unauthentic, or must one adhere only to the adhkar traditions narrated from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him?

The answer

Summary of the Answer:

Imam Abu Dawud narrated a from Abu Salam, who heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Whoever says in the morning and in the evening: 'We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad as our Messenger,' it is a duty upon Allah to please him." This was narrated by the Imams: Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, and Al-Hakim, and mentioned by An-Nasa'i, Ibn As-Sunni, and Ibn Al-Qayyim. Al-Hakim authenticated it, and Adh-Dhahabi agreed with him. Therefore, there is no harm in acting upon it.
